Uitgelicht: de kneu

KNEU ♂ ♀ 

De kneu is een kleine en sociale vink. Rusteloos en actief. Ze fotograferen is daardoor niet altijd even gemakkelijk... Ze zijn het hele jaar in ons land te vinden. In de winter in grote groepen en tijdens het broedseizoen in kleinere losse kolonies. Het voorhoofd en de borst van het mannetje (rechts) zijn in de broedtijd roodgekleurd. Een deel trekt ’s winters naar het Middellandse zeegebied, maar de populatie wordt aangevuld met kneuen uit Noord-Europa.

The Linnet is a small and social finch. Restless and active. To photograph them is therefore not always that easy... They remain all year in our country. In the winter in large groups and during the breeding season in small loose colonies. The forehead and chest of the male (right) are coloured red in the breeding season. In the winter a part migrates to Mediterranean, but the population is supplemented by finches from Northern Europe.
